ATHOL: Petition drive misguided

I am writing to caution all who are tempted to sign the recall petition in Athol. Make sure you get all the facts not the opinion of one disgruntled citizen. I have been to several council meetings in the recent past and have not seen any of the misdeeds that were leveled against the three council persons mentioned in Wednesday’s Press. In fact, just the opposite.

These people are more than eager to get to the bottom of the alleged embezzlement of city funds. There may be information that law enforcement is not ready to release yet during an ongoing investigation.

Councilwoman Zichco is a trustworthy person as she was once treasurer at our church. She may be blunt and to the point but she is as anxious as the rest to get to the bottom of this. Remember that she was only sworn in since January. How could she be responsible for what has been going on before that?

The council has been preoccupied with Athol Daze so that we citizens can have a day to enjoy. I have also seen nothing but dedication with the other two members mentioned in the recall attempt. Please think before you sign and realize that you may not know all the facts.
