Taphney "Taffy" Marie (Chaffins) Bex-Kimball, 61, of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, passed away peacefully on Aug. 4, 2014, surrounded by her loving daughters in Post Falls, Idaho.

Taffy was born Oct. 10, 1952, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, to Hazel Fuller Nelson and Mark Chaffins. She was a Coeur d'Alene native, graduating from Coeur d'Alene High School in 1971.

Taffy married James Bex, and they had four daughters. They moved to Aberdeen, Wash., where they resided for 14 years before returning to the Idaho Silver Valley. Taffy spent the early years of her life raising her four daughters and volunteering as room-mother, with the PTO, as a Girl Scout Leader and baseball coach. In her free time, she enjoyed bowling in a league. Taffy thoroughly enjoyed being a mother, and was an amazing mom. She often had many children at her home and was a mother to many.

In 2001, Taffy married Jerry Kimball, and together they spent time fishing, hunting, gardening, and dancing. Taffy took jobs with the U.S. Forest Service, The Elks Lodge in Wallace, Albertsons, and finally, with August Home Health. She loved taking care of people; Taffy greatly enjoyed her clients and continued to work until her illness would no longer allow her to.

Taffy was preceded in death by husband, Jerry Kimball; parents Hazel Nelson and Mark Chaffins; stepfather Frank Nelson; and brother, Terry Chaffins. She is survived by her daughters Jenny Butcher (Darel) of Spokane, Wash., Joanna Dukovich (Ron) of Reedsport, Ore., Jamie Pine (Sheldon) of Post Falls, and Jessica Nela (Besnik) of Post Falls; brothers Tracy Nelson (Laura) of Coeur d'Alene, Tim Nelson (Tracy) of Hayden, and Jeff Chaffins (Denise) of Moscow, Idaho; nine grandchildren: Brandon Butcher, Amber Rees, Jacob, Alex, and Sawyer Dukovich, Devin, Sheldon, Aurianna, and Lake Pine; two great-grandchildren, Payton and Alaina Rees; step-mother Charlotte Smith of Clarkston, Wash., and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Taffy's life will be held at 3 p.m.. on Saturday, August 16, at the American Legion, 1138 E. Poleline Ave., Post Falls, Idaho; all are invited to attend. Donations in Taffy's memory can be made to Hospice of North Idaho or any cancer foundation. Cards and flowers can be sent to Jamie Pine, 1976 Dipper Loop, Post Falls, ID 83854.
