COEUR d'ALENE - The Kootenai County Sheriff's Office is seeking assistance from anyone who may have witnessed the incident last weekend involving Gary Scott "Scotty" Shawver.

Shawver went missing in Lake Coeur d'Alene around 7:30 p.m. Saturday after reportedly going into the lake from a boat.

The sheriff's office sent out a press release Thursday asking for assistance from anyone who was on Lake Coeur d'Alene or on the shoreline near Stevens Point at the time and may have witnessed the incident.

"We have contacted or have been contacted by several residents and other witnesses in the area," the release said. "But we are looking for any others that may have witnessed the incident."

Currently, the sheriff's office boat is on Lake Coeur d'Alene and has been actively searching the area since early Thursday morning.

"Based on witness accounts, we have expanded our search area, but haven't been successful in locating the body of Mr. Shawver," the sheriff's office reported.

If witnesses have information on the search, please contact the sheriff's office at (208)446-1300.
