Joetta Reed, 63, passed away at her home on Aug. 2, 2014, with her family by her side in Post Falls, Idaho.

Nona Joetta Reed was born June 30, 1951, in Eureka, Mont., an only child to Betty Jean Webb and Hollis Warren Reed. Joetta grew up in the "old" Rexford and Eureka, Mont. areas with her mother and step-father, John Tidwell. Her summers were spent with her cousins at the home of her grandparents, Dick and Lena Webb, in Old Rexford and later, in Hamilton, Mont. Joetta graduated from Lincoln County High School in June 1969 and worked as a secretary in several states including Virginia, Montana and Washington.

On Feb. 3, 1978, Joetta welcomed her daughter, Johna Rae, while living in Spokane, Wash., but moved back to the Eureka area within the year to be closer to her family.

Joetta owned and/or ran two restaurants and a sewing business in Eureka and was active in the community through the Saddle Club and 4-H club, as well as helping plan and execute a city-wide reunion. She helped raise four "step" children, and often cared for many other long-term house guests and extended family members.

In October 1999, Joetta moved to Coeur d'Alene to be close to her daughter. She attended several classes at North Idaho College and began a career with Sears, working most recently as the Human Resources Manager.

Joetta's interests included cooking, scrapbooking, camping, shopping, sewing and volunteering. She had a love and appreciation for hand-made crafts and enjoyed collecting things such as cookie jars, African violets and Buddha figurines. During the last 14 years, Joetta devoted much of her time to volunteering for the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life of Coeur d'Alene. She loved hosting family get-togethers, especially during the holidays, watching movies and the Food Network, and playing board games.

Joetta leaves behind her partner of 30 years, Bruce Nelson; her daughter and family, Johna, Steven and Elizabeth Nelson; stepsons Matthew Nelson and family, Daniel Nelson, and Benjamin Nelson and family; as well as other family members Terry Webb and family; Tracy and Twila Webb and family; Ray and Jane Karr and family; LeAnn Cabe; Bill Brickey and family; and Lloyd Brickey and family.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 13, at English Funeral Chapel, 1700 N. Spokane St., Post Falls, Idaho; potluck reception to follow. Condolences may be sent to English Funeral Chapel or by visiting www.englishfuneralchapel.com.
