Cierra Foster is Idaho's first Cadet Freestyle women's National Champion after winning the ASICS/VAUGN Cadet national tournament in Fargo N.D., from July 18-July 26.

In the first tournament in the Cadet age level: Foster had a bye the first round, beat Cassandra Olive (Calif.) in the second roundby pin in 2:16, won a semifinal against Alexandria Enriquez (Ga.) after a 4-4 draw with Foster scoring last for the win, and pinned Brittany Bates of Texas in the finals in 1:16.

Cierra also wrestled in the Junior division (age group up) - also in Fargo - where she wrestled for the runner up spot. Wrestling Daniela Flores (Texas) with a 10-0 win for Foster, 7-0 win over Alexandria Enriquez (Ga.), pinned Alyssa Gonzalez (Calif.) in the semifinals and losing to Maya Nelson (Colo.) 11-0 in the finals.

Idaho has had only one other National Champion which was in the junior division, Annneliese DeAragon in 2010. Cierra plans on wrestling for Post Falls High in the coming season.

The Coeur d'Alene Crush softball program will be holding open tryouts for upcoming fall ball season for the 14-and under and 16-18U fall fastpitch softball season tonight from 6:00-7:30 at Canfield Middle School.
