MOUNTAIN HOME (AP) - The 18-year-old owner of a sport-utility vehicle struck by a train in Mountain Home on Tuesday morning in southwestern Idaho is facing charges.

Police say no one was around the 2000 Ford Excursion when emergency responders arrived following the collision that occurred about 3:25 a.m. west of 12th Street.

Police identified the driver as Christian Danter through a vehicle registration check. Later Tuesday he was taken to an area hospital where he was treated and released with minor injuries.

He faces charges of leaving the scene of an accident and reckless driving.

Union Pacific spokesman Mark Davis says the vehicle was parked on the tracks about 300 feet west of the crossing. He says no one on the train was injured.
