POST FALLS - Going into a second year, the organizer of "Cruisin' the Moon" car show and fundraiser is hoping for a huge turnout on Saturday.

"Last year we raised $3,000 in cash donations and 840 pounds of food," said Louise Heitz, a bartender at Moon's Mongolian Grill in Post Falls.

Heitz came up with the idea last year and carried through this year. She is hoping to make it a huge summertime event for the community.

"We want to put on an event to have a bunch of fun," she said. "But we also wanted to do something to give back to the community."

The public is invited to attend the event and classic car owners who want to show their pre-1979 cars can enter, too. Part of the entry proceeds will go to the Post Falls Food Bank.

Registration for car owners is between 7 and 10 a.m. Saturday. The public can view the vehicles from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Heitz said the public is being asked to bring a food item the food bank can use, and attendees will be given a free raffle ticket for each food item they bring.

There will be a disc jockey playing music, and the restaurant and lounge will be open. She said the restaurant will also be serving burgers and hot pork sandwiches on the back deck.

Heitz said she is also seeking arts and crafts vendors for the front lawn as well.
