St. Vincent de Paul North Idaho awarded $10K grant from Avista Foundation

COEUR d'ALENE - The Avista Foundation has awarded a $10,000 grant to St. Vincent de Paul North Idaho to help purchase a building from the city of Coeur d'Alene as a one-stop location for 24 different human care services in collaboration with 19 different agencies.

"The services we're able to provide help others to help themselves," said Jeff Conroy, executive director of St. Vincent de Paul.

Patty Shea, Avista's regional business manager for North Idaho, said there is still a large need for assisting nonprofits in North Idaho.

"As a community partner, we're pleased to be able to help support such a worthy organization to provide services to help residents meet basic needs and work toward financial stability," she said.

Avista is celebrating its 125th anniversary.

"Growing the foundation's endowment will help us sustain the donation program into the future, supporting opportunities to build community and economic vitality in our region," said Avista Corp. Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Scott Morris.

In its first of two grant distributions for 2014, the Avista Foundation awarded a total of $49,750 to human care services, educational and community vitality organizations in Avista Utilities' service territory in Washington, Idaho and Oregon.
