Rudolph W. "Bud" Weiss

| August 3, 2014 9:00 PM

Rudolph W. "Bud" Weiss, born Oct. 23, 1938 to Rudolph W. and Orla (Bischoff) Weiss, Bud grew up in Portland, Ore. He graduated from Grant High School in 1956. Continuing his education he graduated with honors from Oregon State College and received a scholarship to Northwestern University where he earned his MBA.

Bud married his college sweetheart, Sharon Olsen, and started his accounting career in Portland at Arthur Young and Company. A year later he was transferred to Sunnyvale, Calif. to work at Lockheed. After two years Bud moved his family to Coeur d'Alene. He worked for Kaiser and then Idaho Forest Industries, where he stayed for over 30 years.

His family, dogs and sports were his passions. The family camped all over the Northwest. Many days were spent on Coeur d'Alene Lake or at the family lot on the Spokane River boating, fishing or waterskiing. In the summer, Bud's favorite place was in an inner tube floating on the river with his Labrabor on his lap, and in the winter you could find the whole family snow-skiing at Schweitzer.

He is survived by Sharon, his wife of 53 years, his children and their families: Sue Brunner (Geoffrey), Matthew, Kacey and Justin; Tim Weiss (Robyn), Dakota and Damon, and Shaydn Wassmuth; his sister Judy Bloomfield, nieces Julie Morrison, Karen Simmons, Sandy Commender, and nephew Rick Bloomfield.

The family would like to thank all the dedicated, kind people at Ivy Court who made the last two years of his life happier and more comfortable. Thank you to his expert physicians, Dr. Nemec, Dr. Cooke and Dr. Gillis. To Hospice of North Idaho we will be forever grateful for your loving care, pain management and compassion for the whole family.

A celebration of life will be held at the family home Aug. 9 from 2 to 4 p.m. for all his family, friends and caregivers. The address is 2483 W. Fairway Dr. Coeur d'Alene.
