ARFEE: Fatal shot echoes still

| August 1, 2014 9:00 PM

Let me see if I understand this correctly: A cop approached this van with his gun drawn. The windows were rolled half down with a “black Lab” inside that was apparently barking at the officer. The officer claims he was lunging at him (how can a dog lunge through a half-closed window?). At that point the cop shot the dog through the window, killing the dog; saying that he thought it was a pit bull.

Two other officers showed up on the scene and immediately decided to call Animal Control and have the dog removed. No one made an effort to contact the owner and left the scene before the owner came out and asked where his dog was.

At this point someone told him that his dog was dead and was removed by Animal Control and he had to move his van or have it towed. He was forced to sit in his dog’s blood and broken glass from the window in order to drive the van.

The cop who shot Arfee should never be allowed to carry a gun in the future. The other two officers should also be reprimanded for helping to cover up the scene. To a dog lover like myself, a dog is not “just a dog” but a member of the family. Stories like this make me sick to my stomach.
