Katrina McKernan Foley, 73
Katrina McKernan Foley passed away Sunday, April 27, 2014. Katrina journeyed from us with grace and is at peace.
Katrina was born in Swarthmore, Pa., to Dr. John McKernan and Mrs. Katrina McKernan on August 13, 1940. She graduated from Wheelock College in Boston, Mass., preceding a career in elementary education. Katrina raised her sons in Maryland, and then moved west - first to Colorado, settling finally in Idaho.
Katrina was a member of the Mica Grange, St. Luke's Episcopalian Women's Guild, the Welcomers, and the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Katrina loved life. Her laughter, dignity and generosity of spirit will remain with all who knew and loved her.
Katrina was preceded in death by her parent's, John and Katrina; and older brother, Faber. She is survived by her sons, Barent and Chuck Foley; brother, Richard McKernan; sister, Cornelia McKernan Snape; niece and husband, Megan McKernan and Brandon Zent; two great nieces, Caitlin and Avery Zent; nephew, John McKernan; and by her "precious angels, the lights of her life," Barent's children: Barent, Adele, and Evelyn Foley.
At Katrina's request, there will be no memorial service. The family wishes no flowers, and asks instead for donations to be made in Katrina's memory to the Mica Grange or the Hospice House at Hummingbird Fields on Prairie Avenue in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
