Dennis Duncan, 56

| April 25, 2014 6:27 AM

Dennis Duncan, who passed away recently at the age of 56, made his mark in life not just in those fields of wheat, barley and lentils but in the hearts of his loved ones and friends in Fairfield and beyond.  Born in Spokane, WA July 22, 1957 just minutes ahead of his fraternal twin brother Dave, Dennis grew up helping his father, Bill on the farm just east of Fairlield, WA.  In high school, Dennis met his future wife Terry.  They later married and had 3 sons:  Denny, Shane and Kyle.  Their lives together spanned over 4 decades.  After graduating from high school in Plummer, he attended Spokane Community College majoring in Diesel Mechanics.  Dennis never seemed to have much of a dilemma about what his life would be-it would be farming.  He was in his element in the world of early starts and long days regulated by the changing of the seasons.  Dennis and Bill worked together along with his twin Dave and other brother Randy for a few years.  Dennis slowly gained more land and branched out on his own.  With time, hard work, integrity and the help and support of Terry and their boys, Dennis became a successful farmer.  In March of 2012 a cancer diagnosis triggered a shift of priority.  Family and pursuing his desire to travel became forefront.  Dennis, Terry and the family traveled to Hawaii in January of 2013 for a wonderful and relaxing getaway.  Thailand became a favorite destination of his.  He journeyed there many times to visit his friend, George and to go scuba diving in the Andaman Sea off the South East coast, an activity that he became passionate about after gaining certification here in Coeur D'Alene..

Dennis passed peacefully in his home April 23, 2014. Gone from us but leaving memories death can never take away.

He is survived by his children Denny Duncan, Shane Duncan, Kyle Duncan and their mother Terry Duncan.  His grandchildren Grace and Collin.  Parents Bill Duncan and Claudia Nelson.  SIblings Randy Duncan, Debbie Harp, Dave Duncan, Pat Duncan, Lori Hay Brad Nelson, Brendon Nelson and Makalia Lampert.

Services will be April 26 at 1pm Fairfield Presbyterian Church
