COUNCIL: Up late, power to people
During a City Council meeting, developers dwelled on property rights.
Property rights are in the eyes of the beholder — a homeowner cannot legally raise pigs in his backyard thereby bringing flies and stench to nearby neighbors.
As proposed by more than 30 homeowners in the Fort Grounds, the historical history must be preserved, and only single family dwellings be permitted. Eight were opposed.
Now, let’s put our historical carousel that is stored away in the park for kids to enjoy — especially the little guys and girls.
I admire our mayor and City Council for staying up past 11 o’clock to hear every speaker, pro and con, then, on Ron Edinger’s motion, voted majority rules. The Fort Grounds stays single family — not like our former mayor and council on McEuen Field — hold a hearing then vote against the vast majority.
