THOMAS: She's the best candidate

Could’ve, should’ve, would’ve:

Isn’t hindsight great? Looking back in time, investments could have been made with greater return results.

Does that make Steve Matheson smarter than Laurie Thomas because he professes better results through hindsight ability? I don’t think so.

It is my understanding that Steve, a former corporate Wall Street trader during the stellar housing market of the mid 2000’s, has a large scale investment background bundling derivative mortgage securities and a proven ability to seek higher yields.

Laurie, working more than a dozen years as Chief Deputy Treasurer alongside Tom Malzahn, is trained and experienced in following state laws and investing public money that assures safe principal and liquidity with return being of concern, but not the primary objective.

Risk is still quantified as risk.

Public money is still other people’s money.

My vote for Kootenai County Treasurer is Laurie Thomas, who I know will safeguard our tax dollars for payment when bills are due.
