CREATION: Planting a seed of faith

| April 18, 2014 9:00 PM

It is amazing to me that an apple seed contains all requirements in it to produce wood, bark, roots, leaves, blossoms, an apple with skin, and yes, five more seeds just like itself. All this in one little seed.

If you plant that seed, you expect it to produce an apple tree, not a cactus or a rose. Funny how everything in nature is the same whether animal or plant; kind produces kind. No one expects two cows to give birth to a cat.

I found Mr. Ortmann’s letter in last Friday’s paper to be interesting.

He makes the claim that Darwin’s theory is a fact.

May I remind Mr. Ortmann that scientists call it “Darwin’s Theory” because that is just what it is. Out of the millions of fossils that have been discovered, not one shows a change of “kind.”

I would like to know what made the first fish or animal realize that it would be beneficial to be able to see, a bird to have a tail for flight, or a giraffe to want a longer neck than others. I know that many a time I wished I had a third hand, but try as I could, it never materialized.

When I see a building, I don’t question that people didn’t build it.

The existence of the building proves there were builders. When I see a painting, even though I don’t know the painter, there is no doubt that there had to have been an artist that created it. When one sees all created things around them, how can they deny there wasn’t a creator?

One has to have an insurmountable amount of faith to believe every living thing we can observe started from one rock exploding in space.

According to Mr. Ortmann’s closing statement, “any theory of life that doesn’t rely on the scientific method is really just religion,” would make evolution a religion.
