Calvin M. Deckard, 66

Calvin M. Deckard, age 66, passed away at Kootenai Health in Coeur d’Alene on April 10, 2014.

Calvin was born in Spokane on Sept. 12, 1947, to Milton and Maxine (Parkins) Deckard. He was raised in Spokane/Colfax, enlisted into the US Navy in 1964 and served until 1968. After his discharge he returned to Spokane where he met and married Dorothy Mason on May 24, 1969. They resided in Spokane, Loon Lake, Medical Lake, and Emida. Calvin and Dorothy moved to Post Falls in 1998. Calvin loved to travel; he and Dorothy took three years and explored the United States. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, 4 wheeling, and raising tomato plants and roses along with spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy of Post Falls; two sons: Jeff and wife Shelly Deckard of North Pole, Alaska, and Jay and wife Kim Deckard of Williston, N.D.; five grandsons, AJ, Jordan, Wyatt, Baylee, and Colbey; two great grandchildren, Addison and Hope; and three brothers, Gary, Skeeter, and Todd. Calvin is preceded in death by his parents, one brother Clifford in 2013, and his two beloved Beagles; Tater and Shorty.

A memorial service with military honors will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 19, 2014, at English Funeral Chapel, 1700 North Spokane St, Post Falls.
