PARKINSON'S: Be aware in April

| April 6, 2014 9:00 PM

April is Parkinson’s Awareness Month, helping bring much-needed attention to this chronic, progressive neurological disease that affects movement, speaking and cognitive function.

Between 500,000 and 1.5 million Americans live with Parkinson’s disease, including many Idahoans, and it is important that we use this month to celebrate, commemorate and educate the public and our elected officials about Parkinson’s, and the need for better treatments and a cure.

We want to encourage Senators Risch and Crapo, and Representatives Labrador and Simpson, to support biomedical research that can lead to better treatments and a cure for Parkinson’s. Their leadership is important to us and the entire Parkinson’s community.
