George Berg, 86

George Berg, 86 of Post Falls passed away September 27, at KMC Hospital. George was born in Kansas Feb.12,1927 to Esther and Walter Berg, the family moved to Southern California in 1938. During World War II George joined the Navy and toured in the South Pacific. George was a retired truck driver who was an avid sportsman. He loved his hunting for assorted animals, and for many years was active in a local rifle shooting club. In his later years George enjoyed gold prospecting and made trips to Alaska in search of gold and came home with many stories to share with his family and friends. George is survived by his wife of 67 years Virginia Downer Berg. Both George and Virginia are residents of Living Spring,s Retirement home in Post Falls. He is also survived by Grandson Chad Lien, son of George's deceased daughter Lavonne Land, two sisters, Betty (James) Babb, Fallon, Nevada, and Lila Lomax of California and brother Dean Berg also of California. At Georges' request no funeral services will be held, and his ashes will be spread in the mountains that he had so many wonderful memories. He will be greatly missed by his many friends.
