Charles Eugene Simpson, 85

Charles Eugene Simpson (Gene), born June 24, 1928, in Manitoba, Canada, went home to be with our Lord on Sept. 27, 2013, in Coeur d’ Alene. He will be laid to rest in the Pinegrove Cemetery in Rathdrum. A memorial service for Gene will be at Rathdrum Bible Church on Oct. 2, 2013, at 1 p.m. with potluck lunch to follow.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Joyce Simpson, and sons: Charlie and Debbie Simpson, Russell and Valorie Simpson, daughter Heather and Stephen Kibler and stepdaughter Bobbie Lynn Seale. Brothers are Bob Simpson and Cody and Jill Simpson. Sisters are Rita and Lois and sister-in-law Cecilene. Grandchildren include Matthew and Lynn Simpson, Andrea and Haitham Dawoud, Malena, Sabrina, Charlie Mark, Milissa, Anthony, Jean Luc and Timothy. There are 16 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by parents, brother Jim Simpson and sister Fern and Jim Tuttle, first wife, Edna and son, Matthew Gene. 

Gene was hard working in the logging industry, then as a heavy equipment operator and owner of Gene Simpson Contracting for the past 35 years. He was a master of his trade. He enjoyed Hauser Lake, giving skiing lessons to sons, grandkids, nieces and nephews and had many summers of fun at Miles on Lake Roosevelt with Bill and Irene Raines. He had a wonderful sense of humor.  He was a Godly role model for all who knew him; kind and generous, always lending a helping hand.
