Run for the Angels is Oct. 6

| September 28, 2013 9:00 PM

The Inland Northwest Sudden Infant Death (SIDS) Foundation of Coeur d'Alene will be hosting its second-annual Run for the Angels 5K at 4 p.m. Oct. 6 at the Riverstone Gazebo.

The Inland Northwest SIDS Foundation educates the public on safe sleep practices for infants, brings awareness to SIDS/Sudden Unexpected Infant Death and provides grief support to those who have experienced a SUID/SIDS loss.

The foundation hosts the Run for the Angels as its primary fundraiser to fund safe sleep education classes, provide grief support to families who have suffered losses and bring awareness to their cause. Registration for the 5K is still open and includes a race packet and T-shirt for $30.

Check-in for the race begins at 2 p.m. and will include a live DJ, SIDS/SUID education booths and more. Attendees will learn ways to avoid SIDS risk factors, ways to become involved with the organization and how to connect with other area SIDS/SUID families.

The event will feature a silent auction and a crib bumper drive, where the foundation will recycle old/new crib bumpers, known to be suffocation risks. The first 20 people to bring crib bumpers will win a free "Halo" sleep sack.

The run will begin at 4 p.m. and will be followed by a remembrance ceremony at 5:30.
