Lakeland crushes Deer Park

RATHDRUM - Lakeland senior Brett Webb scored on runs from 15 and 10 yards out and also intercepted two Deer Park passes, leading the Hawks past the Stags (1-3) 51-0 in a nonleague football game at Corbit Field on Friday night.

"Brett had a great day for us," Lakeland assistant coach Jimmy Hoffman said. "Both sides of the ball were clicking on all cylinders tonight."

Tyrel Derrick completed 9 of 10 passes for 125 yards for Lakeland (2-2), which travels to Post Falls on Friday.

SANDPOINT - The visiting Tigers took a 14-0 lead after the first quarter, but the Bulldogs took the lead for good in the fourth quarter on an eight yard touchdown run by Thomas Edwards to win a nonleague game at War Memorial Field.

Josh Lampert scored on a 3-yard touchdown run and Preston Rhodes intercepted a pass on the ensuing drive and returned it 50 yards on the ensuing drive to give Timberlake (2-2) the early lead.

Sandpoint tied the game in the third quarter on a 49-yard run by Dean Knaggs.

Preston Rhodes ran for 63 yards for Timberlake, which hosts Moscow on Friday.

Sandpoint (2-2) travels to Cheney on Friday.

KELLOGG - Jared Job ran for two touchdowns, leading the Wildcats past the Lumberjacks in a nonleague game at Teeters Field.

St. Maries (2-2), which beat Kellogg 48-7 in the season opener, host Priest River on Friday.

Kellogg (1-4) travels to Priest River on Oct. 11.

CLARK FORK - Jake Pfeifer threw three touchdown passes, and Simeon Desautel rushed for four scores, as the balanced Warriors shut out the Wampus Cats in a North Star League game.

The Warriors controlled the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball, and the Wampus Cats (1-2, 1-1 NSL) had no answer in a game that was called in the fourth quarter due to the 45-point rule.

Morgan Willms hauled in two of the scoring strikes from Pfeifer, and Nick Anderson caught the other for the Warriors (3-2, 2-0), which returns following a bye week to host Lakeside on Oct. 11.

Clark Fork hosts Lakeside next Friday.

POTLATCH - Leroy Whaley-Arroyo returned a kickoff 80 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter for the visiting Knights, which lost to the Loggers in a nonleague game.

Ronnie Miller ran for 152 yards and three touchdowns for Potlatch (2-2), which led 48-6 at halftime.

IDAHO FALLS - Post Falls went 0-3 at the Bonneville/Hillcrest tournament.

The Trojans (3-13) lost to Skyview, 25-12, 25-10, to Highland 25-16, 25-15 and to Sugar-Salem 25-22, 25-22.

Lydea Schneider had 19 assists for Post Falls in the three matches. Brenna Meehan finished with 15 kills and four aces, Amy Booth finished with 11 digs, Amanda Westlake posted four aces.

The tourney concludes today.

COEUR d'ALENE - Junior Ethan Cordes broke the Coeur d'Alene High school record in the 400-yard freestyle relay, leading the Viking boys in a dual against Lake City, Post Falls and Wallace at the Kroc Center.

Nicole Rozier won the girls 100 backstroke in a time of 59.93 seconds.

"Nicole's heat was already fast with great backstrokers from the other schools," Coeur d'Alene coach Rich Swoboda said. "But Nicole is a true competitor and hates to lose. This only pushed her to take the lead."

Suzanne de Tar won in the 100 and 500 freestyle for Post Falls.
