Cardinals open with win in Utah

PRICE, Utah - North Idaho College dominated Utah State-Eastern on Friday, winning its Scenic West Athletic Conference opener, 25-23, 25-18, 25-14.

"It was not our best performance but a 3-0 road win is always good," NIC coach Miles Kydd said. "We need to clean up our unforced errors moving forward. Give the team full marks for hanging in and getting job done."

Leeta Grap led the attack with 14 kills for the Cardinals (8-5). Larissa Claassen added 10 kills and Katie Schueman finished with seven kills.

Maddi Seidl had 27 assists, while Allison Meehan had 11.

Russia Robinson finished with 14 digs and Grap added 10.

North Idaho's Anyssa Matheson and Britney Chilcott each finished with six kills against the Golden Eagles (4-12).

NIC travels to Colorado Northwestern Community College today.
