COEUR d'ALENE - North Idaho Building Contractors Association has announced the winners of the 2013 Parade of Homes, and organizers say the event will go down in the books as one of the best in recent memory.

There were 22 homes entered by 16 custom homebuilders. They included a wide range of styles and communities. NIBCA said in a press release that if attendance is any indication of an uptick in the economy, the building industry should be very excited for things yet to come.

The homes were judged by building industry professionals from various sectors inside and outside the Coeur d'Alene area. The judges were impressed with the quality and variety of homes.

Due to the number of entries this year, the homes were divided into price range categories.

There were two homes that fell outside the price range categories and each was given an Award of Excellence.

Those homes were:

* Aspen Homes & Development, with the Whistler Bay

This home represented quality materials throughout with an emphasis on siding/trims and interior trim. All the judges noted the beautiful master bath with wonderful interior flows throughout the home. The timber frame look and feel was a perfect fit for an Inland Northwest home. All in all, a very nice home in a great location.

* Monarch Custom Builders, with the Driftwood

With all bedrooms having master baths, this element of the home truly impressed the judges. The home included a very well thought-out floor plan which included exquisite arch designs. Great ceiling heights, classy wood finishes, an upper living area as a great bonus and classic design was a theme for all of the judges with one saying, "Now that's a pantry!" And finally, one judge commenting, "This home won The Best of Show."

The Hand-in Hand award, representing the builder who used the most NIBCA member subcontractors, was given to Timbered Ridge Homes by including 22 NIBCA members during construction of the "Heatherwoods" at Selkirk Meadows.

Countless volunteer man hours are put into this event by many NIBCA members thereby creating an exciting opportunity for our community to view the incredible, quality work of our local construction industry professionals. Thank you to all who participated and attended!

The NIBCA Parade of Homes celebrated their success at the Coeur d'Alene Event Center on August 20th. A special thank you to the sponsors of this year's events: Global Credit Union, The Coeur d'Alene Press, Avista, daVinci Stone Design, ProBuild, Fairway Floor, Kootenai Title and North Idaho Title.
