Reclaim Cd'A PAC announces endosements

Editor's note: This is the complete, unedited announcement released by Reclaim Coeur d'Alene a short time ago. The Press previously published, in a similar manner, endorsement press releases from Balance North Idaho and the Kootenai County Republicans.

Reclaim Coeur d’Alene is pleased to announce its endorsement of the following candidates in the election to be held on November 5, 2013:

FOR MAYOR: MARY SOUZA

FOR COUNCIL SEAT 2: CHRIS FILLIOS

FOR COUNCIL SEAT 4: SHARON HEBERT

FOR COUNCIL SEAT 6: NOEL ADAM

The full field of candidates provides voters with a broad range of depending largely on the following considerations:

Are you satisfied with the government we have had, a government focused on downtown business interests willing and able to draw on personally derived political power to achieve their objectives with little regard for the voice of the community?

OR

Do you want the major choices of city government to take your opinions, needs and capabilities into account? Do you want your voice to be heard? Do you want to see greater transparency and accountability that would enable and encourage you to play a more active role in the affairs of your city?

In announcing these endorsements, Frank Orzell, Chairman of Reclaim CdA, expressed hope on behalf of the group that the community will play an active role by casting their votes based on an understanding of the issues and the thinking and track records of the candidates. The election process provides the community a way to participate effectively in the government of its city, how decisions are made, money is spent and services are provided. If we do not take advantage of this opportunity by learning about the issues and the positions of the candidates and voting accordingly, we cannot complain later if our opinions are not taken into account. It is clearly our job to vote, to vote for the candidates that we feel will be most responsive to the community at large.

Reclaim Coeur d’Alene is a PAC, duly registered under Idaho’s election laws. Its membership includes the volunteers who were responsible for the gathering of more than 5,000 signatures to initiate recall proceedings against the mayor and 3 councilmen last year.
