LA GRANDE, Ore. — Keilin Farrand scored on a free kick from 40 yards out for the North Idaho Cardinals, which played to a 1-1 draw with the NAIA Eastern Oregon Mountaineers on Saturday afternoon.

Victoria Fedora scored in the 69th minute for Eastern Oregon.

“Kacy Johnson played well in defense, as well as Sydney Sol, who had to take care of the very quick Fedora for most of the matchup,” NIC coach Dan Hogan said. “Kellsi Parson controlled the midfield making good decisions to help us keep possession of the ball.”

NIC (2-5-2) travels to Salem, Ore., to face Corban University next Saturday.

COEUR d’ALENE — Adam Talley scored two goals in his first match back from a concussion, leading the Cardinals past the Vandal club team.

NIC (5-3-1) scored the first five goals in the match.

“It was good to get some goals early on in the match,” NIC coach Ken Thompson said. “In a game like this, guys can get a little aggravated as the game goes on, so it was good to get the goals early with four games in the next six days. We had some guys that came in that scored some goals too that we’ll be counting on this week.”

Chris Shaw, who played at Lake City High as well as the University of Puget Sound, scored a goal for the Idaho club team. Former Post Falls High standout Charlie Redline — who played at Walla Walla Community College — had five saves for the Idaho.
