Jane Irene Bowen, 94
Jane Irene (Tanner) Bowen, 94, passed away September 16, 2013 in Coeur d’Alene. She was born June 9, 1919 in Spokane to Charles and Sarah (Crawford) Tanner, joining 4 brothers and 2 sisters. She went thru 8th grade at Pleasant Hills, Lane, ID, earning her High School Diploma from Rose Lake School where she made life-long friends including her loving husband, Charles “Chick” Bowen. They were married October 11, 1939. They bought a place back of Rose Lake with a very old house, remodeling it a little at a time allowed them to work together; something they both enjoyed. In 1944 Chick was sent to war while Irene took care of their children and the home until he returned. She loved being a part of the community including Rose Lake School and Election Boards, Mission Ladies Club for over 50 years, the Canyon Ladies Pinochle Club, ladies & couples bowling league and league golfing at Pinehurst and CDA Public Golf Course. She also loved sewing, woodworking and flower/vegetable gardening. She was always ready to go at a moments notice and really enjoyed the outdoors especially camping and fishing. She took a walk everyday hoping a neighbor would go by to visit with or stop by the house for Tea, cookies or a game of pinochle. Survivors include her son; Bob (Patricia) Bowen, daughter Rosie (Barney) Layton, 4 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and her brothers and sisters. Funeral service will be 11:00 am, Saturday, September 28, 2013 at Pinehurst Community Bible Church; Graveside Service will follow at Rose Lake Cemetery followed by a dinner at Rose Lake Historical Society building. Viewing will be at 10:00 am to service time at 11:00 am. Yates Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of final arrangements.
