Solid waste facilities to close early on Sunday

COEUR d'ALENE - Kootenai County is planning to close all solid waste facilities early on Sunday for an employee appreciation event.

Burn ban since July 29 lifted in Kootenai County

A burn ban in place since July 29 has been rescinded. Burning is now allowed in Kootenai County, with limitations.

Citing cooler temperatures and recent precipitation, the Kootenai County Chiefs Association agreed to allow burning, with an approved permit, on the following burn types: yard waste, burn barrel, and hand-piled logging slash.

Burning of machine-piled slash will not be allowed until further precipitation sufficiently lessens the fire danger.

Permits for all burning shall be required until Oct. 21. For more information, contact your local fire department or the Idaho Department of Lands.
