COEUR d'ALENE - Caitlin Barber and Camryn Wendlandt scored first-half goals to lead the host Lake City Timberwolves past the Coeur d'Alene Vikings 3-0 in a 5A Inland Empire League girls soccer match under the lights at Lake City's football field Thursday night.

"It was a typical Lake City-Coeur d'Alene game," said Lake City coach Matt Ruchti, who estimated the crowd at 500. "It's always an emotional battle. We had some good chances that we were able to put into the back of the net and they had some chances that our keeper (Tiegan Horton) made some saves on. It was a great environment for our high school players to play in and we were fortunate to come out on top."

Horton had eight saves for Lake City (3-2-1, 1-0 5A IEL), which travels to Post Falls on Saturday at noon in a rematch of last year's state 5A title game.
