Lewis “Lewie” Elmer Hagman, 84

Beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great grandfather and brother, Lewis “Lewie” Elmer Hagman, 84, of Cataldo, Idaho, passed away surrounded by his loving family on September 17, 2013 at the Shoshone Medical Center of Kellogg. He was born March 19, 1929 at Wallace, Idaho; Lewie was the son of Julius and Willie “Myrtle” (Thomas) Hagman.

Lewie attended and graduated from the Kingston High School of Kingston, Idaho in 1947.

Lewie married S.Allie Whiteman on August 6, 1948 at Kellogg; S.Allie passed away in June of 2000.

Lewie had served as a logger working for Sverdsten Logging, Nordstrom Logging and for his son Dan with Hagman Timber, Inc. He had also helped to deliver coal and oil for Twin City Fuel. Lewie had also served as a wonderful caretaker for Shoshone Memorial Gardens of Pinehurst and the Hunt Cemetery of Kingston.

Lewie was a member of the Rose lake Masonic Lodge #89 A.F. & A.M. and had been a member of a bowling league of Kellogg.

Lewie loved and enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, trapping, refinishing furniture and watching all sports. His family meant everything to him. Lewie would often quote that “you come into this world with nothing and all you can leave this world with is your integrity“. Lewie taught by example and exemplified the utmost in honesty, hard-working, determined and being positive.

Lewie is survived by four children Dan (Lynn) Hagman of Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho, Steve (Nora) Hagman of St. Maries, Idaho, Kathy (Don) Atha of Spokane Valley, Washington and Lori (Kerry) Sawyer of Kingston, Idaho; ten grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; one brother Ronnie (Gayle) Hagman of Pinehurst; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Bud and Doris Groth of Cataldo; he is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Lewie was preceded in death by his parents and his wife S.Allie.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2013, at 11:00 A.M. at the Mountain View Congregational Church (formerly the United Church Of Kellogg). Interment will be held at the Hunt Cemetery of Kingston.

The family suggests that memorials may be made to the Kootenai Cancer Center, 700 Ironwood Drive, Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho 83814.
