Coeur d'Alene subdues Post Falls in five games

POST FALLS - In a whale of a 5A Inland Empire League match, the Coeur d'Alene Vikings edged the Post Falls Trojans 21-25, 25-21, 25-12, 20-25, 15-13 on Tuesday night at The Arena.

"It was certainly a battle," Trojans coach Willow Hanna said. "We played some pretty good defense. Coeur d'Alene's hitting pretty well."

For Coeur d'Alene (9-4, 1-2 IEL), Megan Ramseyer had 14 kills and 14 assists. Sydney Williams and Miranda Miller both had nine digs. Williams also finished with four blocks and two aces.

Post Falls (2-7, 0-2) was led by Brenna Meehan and Shayna Allert, who both had 12 kills. Lydea Schneider had 17 assists. Allert had 20 digs and Amy Booth had 19 digs. Amanda Westlake served five aces. Meehan had two blocks.

On Thursday, Coeur d'Alene plays at Lakeland, and Post Falls plays at Moscow.

RATHDRUM - Kelly Ramus had nine kills, two blocks and two aces to lead the Hawks past the visiting Wildcats 18-25, 25-20, 25-17, 25-14 in a nonleague match at Hawk Court.

"The girls played really mentally tough," Lakeland coach Kylee Garitone said. "We were more consistent than we've been the last two weeks. We only had two serving errors and our middle hitters really helped us run a successful offense tonight."

Kayla Fahlenkamp had five kills and seven blocks, Haley Rotchford seven kills and six aces and Jen Thomas 18 assists for Lakeland (2-8), which hosts Coeur d'Alene on Thursday.

Cd'A Charter

COEUR d'ALENE - Anna Verhaeghe had seven kills, but the Panthers struggled with their serving in a 25-23, 25-22, 25-16 loss to Timberlake's junior varsity team at Holy Family Catholic School.

"We had a lot of missed serves," Coeur d'Alene Charter coach Krista Brand said.

Taylor Garn finished with nine assists and Stephanie Kociela had three aces for Cd'A Charter (5-8). Tayler Petticolas had three digs. Libby Goodwin finished with two blocks.

Cd'A Charter plays Thursday at Kootenai.

Lakeside

PLUMMER - Alexis Seim had five blocks and two aces for the Knights, which lost a nonleague match 25-22, 22-25, 25-19, 25-19 to the Lancers.

Francine Hendrickx had 10 digs, three kills and two aces and Talia Hendrickx four aces for Lakeside (2-2), which travels to Clark Fork on Thursday.

"Alexis had a good night at the net," Lakeside co-coach Kellee Johnson said. "And Francine did a good job with the libero coverage."

Kootenai

HARRISON FLATS - Gretchen Farkas had 25 assists and three aces as the visiting Miners beat the Warriors 25-16, 25-10, 25-16 in a North Star League match.

Madison Grubham had seven assists, Lacy Goodsen three kills and Austin Andersen three digs for Kootenai (0-4, 0-3 NSL), which hosts Coeur d'Alene Charter on Thursday.

"For us, our serving improved, which was nice to see," Kootenai coach Jessica Hammond said. "We need to work on our mental game next. Wallace did a great job setting up their middle to hit regularly."

Jordan Browning had 11 kills and two blocks and Emily Nelson had 13 digs for Wallace (3-1, 2-0), which travels to Mullan on Thursday.

Christian Center

COEUR d'ALENE - Liz Bookamer had eight kills as the Royals beat Christian Center School at Venture High in Mountain Christian League action, 25-15, 25-14, 27-25.

Sarah Ployhar added eight digs and Maura Lund had six aces for North Idaho Christian (5-1, 3-1 MCL). Breanna Clemens had seven assists and Sydney Lawson had three blocks.

The Royals play Saturday at Country Christian in Pasco, Wash.
