Coeur d'Alene Wastewater Superintendent Sid Fredrickson has received a high honor for his contributions to the field of wastewater management.

The Pacific Northwest Clean Water Association is presenting Fredrickson with the William D. Hatfield Award at the association's annual conference today in Bend, Ore.

"This award is richly deserved," said City Administrator Wendy Gabriel. "Sid's personal journey and challenge to meet some of the most stringent wastewater discharge standards in the country is most commendable and is clear evidence of his impressive contributions to improve the field of treatment. We could not be more proud of this award and his service."

The award is presented to operators of wastewater treatment plants for outstanding performance and professionalism.

Nominees must meet a list of criteria, including serving as a member of the Water Environment Federation and demonstrating sustained and ongoing contributions for at least five years to further and improve the field of treatment plant operations.
