Jordan Johnson threw for 354 yards and five touchdown passes as Montana Grizzlies erased an early deficit to beat the host North Dakota Bison 55-17 in a nonconference game on Saturday in Grand Forks, N.D.

Montana (2-0) scored 33 unanswered points after falling behind 7-0 just minutes after the opening kickoff.

It was the Grizzlies' first win in Grand Forks since 1971. The teams did not play between 1973 and 2010.

Although both currently play in the Big Sky Conference, the game was a nonconference game due to an agreement made before the Bison (1-2) joined the league in 2012.

Toledo 33, Eastern Washington 21: At Toledo, Ohio, David Fluellen ran for 143 yards and two touchdowns as Toledo (1-2) beat visiting FBS Eastern Washington (2-1).

Vernon Adams hit Cooper Kupp for his third touchdown pass, closing the lead to 23-21 with 14:55 left, but Toledo answered with a 12-play, 88-yard scoring drive.

"We are definitely going to find some things we can do better, but I'm also proud that we found a way to fight in a game like this too," Eastern Washington coach Beau Baldwin said. "You have to find different games to be in it, and ultimately to win it. We obviously didn't make enough plays that way and they did."

Adams finished 21 of 42 for 326 yards for Eastern Washington.

Senior wide receiver Ashton Clark had six catches for 119 yards and a touchdown, and finished with his third career performance of at least 100 yards receiving.

Idaho State 29, Western State 3: At Pocatello, Justin Arias threw for 436 yards and two touchdowns to lead Idaho State (2-0) past Division II Western State (0-2) of Alamosa, Colo., in a nonconference game at Holt Arena.

Whitworth 38, Whittier 17: At Spokane, Tevin Tyus returned an interception 19 yards for a touchdown and also had a fumble recover and sack to lead the Division III Pirates (2-0) past the Poets (0-1) in a nonconference game at the Pine Bowl.

Carroll 21, Montana Tech 7: At Helena, Mont., Dustin Rinker carried the ball 37 times for 177 yards and two touchdowns as the NAIA 12th ranked Fighting Saints (3-0, 2-0 Frontier Conference) beat the Orediggers (1-1, 1-1) at Nelson Stadium.

Pat Hansen scored the lone touchdown for Montana Tech in the third quarter.
