In the second half, our defense really did a fine job."

RATHDRUM - Despite being down by a daunting 4-0 score, Lakeland showed strong effort before losing in nonleague play at home.

The Hawks (0-3) are still searching for their first win of the season.

"What I'm really happy with is being down four, we scored two goals to get back into the game and didn't give up," Lakeland coach Mario Maddy said. ""We just gave up soft goals. There's some inexperience playing together. We had some inexperienced mistakes. It was just communication and working together. As we have some continuity, it'll take time to get that worked out."
