Lyndell Findley, 76

Born 1937 in Duncan, Oklahoma – Died September 11, 2013 in Moreno Valley, CA

Lyn married his High School sweetheart two days after their graduation. Shortly after marrying Peggy Dorman he entered the military. Afterward, he and his bride settled in Riverside California where they opened Consumer Beef and worked as a meat cutter/owner until the early ‘80s. Lyn enjoyed numerous business ventures throughout his life.

During the 60’s - 70’s, Lyn enjoyed playing doubles handball with his brother Bob. The “Findley Brothers” were well known on the Southern California Handball Association circuit during their early years. Lyn and Peggy also shared a lifelong enthusiasm for Thoroughbred horseracing and made lifelong friends in the local industry. Lyn was a member of the Elks Lodge where he and his wife enjoyed great friendships.

After retiring, Lyn & Peggy moved to Idaho to be near his brother, where the two enjoyed hours and hours of discussion, debate and quality conversation.

Lyn enjoyed spending family vacations at Eagle Lake since he was a boy and carried on the family tradition throughout the lives his children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews. Many friends throughout the years joined in on the family vacations. The family will gather there in the summer for final arrangements.

Lyn is survived by his wife of 57 years, Peggy (Dorman) Findley. A daughter Cindi Dachtler & husband Roger of Idaho. A son, Bill Findley his wife Caryn of Moreno Valley. Lyn had three grandchildren that meant the world to him, Jimmy Mitchell, Christina Zavala of Ocean Beach and Crystal Findley at home in Moreno Valley. Lyn was able to see his brand new baby grandson that was given the name, Findley, in thanks to his youngest granddaughter Crystal and Skype. Lyn was honored to be able to see his granddaughter Christina get married on Saturday, Sept. 9th.

Lyn is also survived by his older brother Bob Findley of Hayden Idaho and numerous nieces, nephews & extended family members.

A casual memorial will be held at the Elks Lodge (6166 Brockton Ave. Riverside, CA 92506) Tuesday, September 17th, 2013 from 11-2. A gathering in Idaho will be determined in the weeks to come.
