STREETS: Undo job poorly done

| September 13, 2013 9:00 PM

This summer a subcontractor (I assume) was hired by Post Falls to lay down oil, gravel and sealer on our streets and others. All and I mean all of us have had problems of one kind or another; some damaging problems due to what appears to be a sub-quality job done and paid for by all of us including you as taxpayers. The city of Post Falls has been ripped off!

It is not the city’s fault but I believe it is up to the city and the Post Falls Highway District to hold the contractor accountable. Whatever was put down to hold the gravel to the surface is not working and the sticky gravel is being tracked into homes, staining carpet, vinyl flooring and I’m sure has damaged the surface of laminate and hardwood flooring. It’s sticking not only to tires and shoes but to bare feet, my dog’s paws and damaging paint on my neighbor’s custom motorcycle and I don’t have to tell you how a loose gravel surface is extremely unsafe for motorcycles turning corners.

I’m simply asking whomever hired the company to do this road work to pass this on to the people responsible for making it right and if they think by coming by with the street sweeper again and again, as they have been, forget it — it’s not the answer! They loosen as much as they sweep and leave it behind.

There have been some neighbors coming around with petitions just to express a complaint for now, but I expect it won’t be long before someone is fed up enough that there is one for class action lawsuits. Please don’t street sweep this under our rugs. Make it right; after all, we paid for it.
