POST FALLS - Erica Simpson took over Tuesday's girls soccer game against Sandpoint, as the Post Falls Trojans beat the Sandpoint Bulldogs 4-1.

Simpson made her impact felt right away. In the fifth minute she assisted on the first goal, scored by Alli Crain of the Trojans (4-0).

Three minutes before halftime, Simpson struck for her first goal as Post Falls took a 2-0 halftime lead.

"For us, it was really nice to see a lot of different people getting involved besides Erica," Trojans coach Briggs Anderson said. "Our defense played out of our minds. As far as our team goes, we're working really hard."

The Bulldogs (1-2-1) scored their lone goal in the 61st minute - the first goal of the season allowed by Post Falls - on an unassisted score by Emma Weme, which kept the game close at 2-1.

Just three minutes later, Simpson answered on an assist by Bella Scott. Madeline Roberts' goal in the 70th minute, on another assist by Simpson, completed the scoring.

"Starting off 4-0 is obviously a great thing," Anderson said. "We have big hopes and big aspirations. We're keeping it very real as a team and taking it one game at a time, knowing we have a tough season ahead."
