Robert Alan Neff, 67

| September 10, 2013 1:26 PM

Robert Alan Neff, of Hayden, died August 8, 2013, after a long illness. Robert and his twin brother Richard, who preceded him in death, were born in Waterloo, Iowa, on May 17, 1946.

Raised in Southern California, Robert joined the U.S. Navy and became a jet mechanic when he was 18 years old.

He enjoyed all the places his aircraft carrier took him. Robert then became a long-haul truck driver in the mid 1970s, which allowed him to see most states in the U.S. and most of Canada.

Robert met his wife of 37 years, Sherry, in 1976 and became a loving father to his three children, Lillie DeeAnn Neff-Davies, Jonathan Alan Neff, and Nathan Alan Neff.

The family settled in North Idaho in 1986.

A true mechanic in every sense of the word, Robert graduated from the diesel mechanics program at North Idaho College in 1988.

He loved to bowl and enjoyed a good round of golf, until his illness prevented him from doing so. Fishing then became his favorite pass time.

Up until his death, you could catch him on Lake Fernan, fishing on his boat, listening to classic rock, and enjoying a ice cold beer.

Robert had a strong, fighting spirit all the way until the end. He will be truly missed by his family and friends.--
