Kyle Lee Garrett, 48

| September 9, 2013 9:39 AM

Kyle Lee Garrett, 48, died tragically when a tree fell on his campsite near Priest Lake in Idaho on Sunday, Aug. 25, 2013. He is remembered as daring, generous, inspiring, amazing, honorable, adventurous, loyal and easy going. Those lucky enough to know Kyle recall him as a mentor, patient teacher, the best boss, loving father, devoted husband and great friend who radiated warmth, kindness and love to all.

Born Dec. 22, 1964, Kyle grew up in Davis, Calif., and graduated from Chico State University. Kyle married Jill Floyd on Feb. 19, 1994, in Salt Lake City, Utah, where he worked as the director of marketing for the Utah College of Massage Therapy. In 2006 the family moved to Sandpoint where Kyle spent his winters skiing 100-plus days per year, and summers mountain biking, ATVing, boating and flying his Piper Saratoga into the backcountry airstrips.

He enjoyed all outdoor adventures, especially with friends, and spent time in Lake Powell every year with his family. He was a natural with electronics and computers and ran a successful online aviation business.

He is survived by his wife and daughter, Jill and Jordan Garrett of Sandpoint; mother Sharon Garrett of Sacramento, Calif.; sister Kelly (Yianni) Pantis of Sacramento; niece and nephew, Sofia and Andreas; father-in-law Jim Floyd of San Diego, Calif.; and mother-in-law Betty Floyd of Kalamazoo, Mich. He was preceded in death by his father, Larry Garrett.

He made friends, not acquaintances and lived an exciting life that most only dream about or read about. Kyle, you were taken from us too soon. Our hearts are aching for you — but we also know Heaven just got a lot more fun.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Jordan’s college fund at any Wells Fargo Bank to account No. 598 762 4698.

Memorial services will be held at noon Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013, at the top of Schweitzer Mountain Resort. Online memorial and guest book at www.lakeviewfuneral.com.
