Cardinal teams fall to Laramie County

| September 9, 2013 9:00 PM

CHEYENNE, Wyo. - North Idaho College tied the game with two goals in three minutes early in the second half, but Laramie County Community College scored the go-ahead goal a minute later to beat the Cardinals 3-2 on Sunday.

Christian Botuli scored on a penalty kick, and assisted on Shane Stanley's goal for NIC (3-2-1), which lost 4-0 to Otero on Saturday.

"Yesterday we felt like we were struggling to defend and limit the other team's opportunities," NIC coach Ken Thompson said. "Today we pretty much limited them to crosses, and unfortunately they were pretty good."

The Cardinals left five players home this week because of injury or illness. Thompson said center midfielder Dawes Elwood and defender Sid Rayne stepped in and played well.

"Assuming we get healthy, we're going to be deeper than we were a week ago," Thompson said.

NIC plays host to Shoreline Community College next Sunday.
