HYDROS: Not worth the bucks

Would like to sum up the day we spent at the much-touted hydroplane races in three words: “Waste of time.” Not to mention money.

You have to understand my husband has been looking forward to this event for two years. At one point before leaving I leaned over and asked him, “Well, what do you think?” He replied, “I’m very disappointed.”

We attended on Saturday having purchased some more expensive tickets. From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. we saw no more than four actual races. The down time between the races was painful. Is this the norm? If so, lesson learned.

On a positive note I will have to say it was a good day for socializing, lots of food vendors and the folks who put in their time volunteering were terrific.

In closing I will say we’ve attended the hydroplane races twice now. First and last.
