POST FALLS - Erica Simpson scored a hat trick and Sam Runkle, who had four saves in the first half, and Aneisha Gondo, who made one in the second half, teamed for the Trojans' third shutout in as many games this season, in a nonleague win over the Chiefs.

"Sam has started all three games and Aneisha has finished a few of them for us," Post Falls coach Briggs Anderson said. "Between them and the back line, we haven't allowed a goal yet, which for us is good. Our defenders have played great to start the season."

Post Falls led 1-0 at halftime. Simpson put the game away with two more goals in the second half, then Olivia Ellison scored on an assist by Simpson in the 73rd minute.

"In the first half, with it being 1-0, we focused on the second half by keeping our game the same and playing as a team and moving the ball around," Anderson said. "It resulted in three more goals and it was great."

"The girls played their hearts out," said Baranski. "Their competitive spirit and energy is unrivaled so far, and it really showed in the second half when we were the better team."
