William A. Lilly, 91

William (Bill) A. Lilly, of Richland, Wash., passed away on the morning of Sept. 2, 2013, at Kadlec Medical Center.

Bill was born June 3, 1922, in Pocahontas, Ark., to parents August and Mary Lilly.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps in January 1942. He served in the South Pacific as an armorer and gunner on B-24s. He was assigned to Hikam Air Base in Hawaii in 1944, where he met Gloria Anderson, of White Earth, N.D. She was an airplane mechanic at Hickam Air Base.

They were married on Feb. 11, 1945, on the base. Bill was honorably discharged from the U.S. Air Force in October 1949.

Bill retired as a police officer, having served as Chief of Police in Wallace, Idaho, for many years and then as a deputy sheriff of Shoshone County.

He is survived by his two sons, Allen (Diane) of Kennewick, Wash., and Barry (Barbara) of McMinnville, Ore.

In addition, he is survived by his grandson Brett (Anita), of Kennewick, and his great-grandchildren Alina and Alexander.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, wife Gloria of 63 years, and granddaughter Stacey.

Einan’s Funeral home is in charge of arrangements. A private service has already been held.
