COEUR d'ALENE - Devin Kohles had a goal and an assist as the Coeur d'Alene Vikings scored twice in two minutes to break the game open and beat the Sandpoint Bulldogs 3-0 in boys soccer action Thursday afternoon.

"We were definitely pleased with how we played today," said Coeur d'Alene coach Jeff Lake, whose team played to a 3-all tie with the Bulldogs in the season opener 12 days ago. "We gave up some bad goals at the end against them last time, so the clean sheet meant a lot today."

Lake praised the play of center backs Chase Sanchez and Jake Sweeney, and goalkeeper Garrett Boyce, as the Vikings notched their third straight shutout.

COEUR d'ALENE - Garrett Flolo scored on a penalty kick in the 16th minute following a penalty that he drew as the Timberwolves beat the visiting Hawks at the Irma Anderl Soccer Complex.

"It looked like he had his jersey pulled from behind inside the penalty box," Timberwolves assistant coach Cody Steele said.

Lake City (2-0) also struck two balls that went over the net.

"We hit a couple from the six-yard box that just missed and so they probably should've been goals," Steele said. "(Lakeland keeper) Cade (Coffey) made a couple of good saves. It was a hard-fought match."

"We played with a lot more heart than we've played with in past games, and that's something we can build on," Lakeland coach Andrew Craig said.
