SHOOTING: Cd'A unsafe? Bah!

First, I would like to thank Doug Miller for his insightful My Turn on 8-31-13. This letter is in response to Ms. Goodson’s letter to the editor on 9-1-13. Goodson stated, “Eric was a gentle peaceful young man…” -— how can that be if his “biggest demon was alcohol…”?

If he had this “demon,” how would that make his life peaceful? It sounds like it was a miracle that Eric hadn’t maimed or killed someone while “driving while intoxicated.”

Ms. Goodson wasn’t there when the shooting occurred so how can she say “Eric is dead because of an officer’s bad judgment.”? She states she has had contact with the Coeur d’Alene Police — in what context?

Ms. Goodson, if you “no longer feel safe in this town,” might I suggest that you go somewhere safe — maybe L.A., Chicago or New York? Since the investigation hasn’t been completed, I suggest Ms. Goodson not point fingers until ALL of the facts are known.

To Officer Mortensen and the Coeur d’Alene Police Department — THANK YOU for keeping our community safe. Some have no idea how difficult your job is or what our lives would be like without you.
