Work day to celebrate Public Lands Day Sept. 14 in Cd'A

| September 5, 2013 9:00 PM

COEUR d'ALENE - The Bureau of Land Management's Coeur d'Alene Field Office invites the public to a volunteer work day in recognition of National Public Lands Day on Saturday, Sept. 14.

The event will be held at the new Blue Creek Bay trailhead parking area in the Wallace Forest Conservation Area east of Coeur d'Alene from 9 a.m. until noon.

Volunteer activities for the event include helping construct viewing benches, minor trail maintenance, construction of bluebird houses for the recreation area and litter pick-up.

If you are interested in helping out, please dress appropriately for the weather and terrain, bring water and plan to get a little dirty for a good cause.

This will mark the 19th year for National Public Lands Day.

The event, which began with just three locations and 700 volunteers in 1994, has grown to more than 2,100 host sites and more than 170,000 volunteers helping improve the nation's public lands.
