Indians lose, then later knocked out of playoff hunt

EVERETT, Wash. - Ryan Cordell and Evan Van Hoosier had RBIs, but Spokane fell to the Everett AquaSox 3-2 in Northwest League baseball Sunday afternoon before 2,609 at Everett Memorial Stadium.

Later Sunday, Vancouver (39-36 overall) beat Tri-City 2-1 to clinch a playoff spot and eliminate the Indians from playoff contention.

Chantz Mack hit a two-run, pinch-hit homer for Everett (43-32) to cap a three-run eighth inning against Spokane (38-37).

On Sunday, Spokane starter Eric Brooks struck out 11 batters in six innings of work. Van Hoosier had three of the Indians' eight hits.

Spokane plays at Everett today in the regular season finale at 4 p.m.

Vancouver will play at Everett on Tuesday to open a best-of-3 series.
