WIDMYER: Will champion the arts

I have been involved with the arts my whole life. One of the things which attracted my husband Jack and I to Coeur d’Alene was the theatre and other avenues of artistic expression. Any community is a far more vibrant place with a strong arts and culture component. We have seen many young actors, musicians, and other artists progress on to national renown.

I hope in this next election we do not lose our city’s support for the arts. There are some candidates who believe public art and support of the arts is nice but not a significant component of a community. They are probably not the ones made better by a thought provoking reading, or an inspiring concert. They may not feel art enhances a community. I know Steve Widmyer has been a supporter of the arts, and I urge everyone who has appreciated the many varied artistic and cultural events in our town to vote for Steve for mayor.
