PHOTO: Doggone it, it's not right

In the last few years the Press printed a photo of a local man riding his skateboard out in the street with his dog pulling him.

Now, on the front page of the Tuesday (Oct. 15) Press, you show a man riding down a street in a converted power wheelchair/recliner with his dog out in front of him on a leash.

Humorous, funny, interesting, I don’t know. This seems harmless, but he AND his dog don’t belong on a PUBLIC street with this improvised vehicle. I don’t know where he belongs with this apparatus, but it’s NOT on a public street!

Perhaps you should poll some police and city attorneys to see if they would like to be tied up in court with some frivolous accident/lawsuit. If you’re going to print vital front-page news such as this, at least make sure the “rider” has safety equipment on, so that parents can have an easier time explaining to their children the proper way to perform this activity.

As for the dog, it would be better riding in the driver’s lap. Maybe one of the new mayoral candidates will take this new activity to heart, and endorse a new “Canine Power Recliner” park. I’m sure LCDC or City Council can amend the McEuen Park plans.
