MARATHON: Good all the way around
We are excited to have those who wholeheartedly support the upcoming Hayden Marathon attend the Lakes Highway District meeting at 5:30 p.m., Monday, Oct. 7.
For the taxpayers who elect the board of commissioners who take great care of our roads in the Lakes Highway District, Monday’s meeting is an opportunity to voice your support for a low impact use (approximately 12 hours including set up/take down) by pedestrians. We hope to raise funds for a food bank, a cross country program for our youth, and to help support businesses in and around Hayden.
The process of planning this event has been ongoing for several months, transparent, and under the direction of all local jurisdictions involved. All directions, ordinances and suggestions by the Lakes Commissioners have been followed with safety at the forefront, and minimal impact on all residents and other recreational users.
We respect the public process immensely, and know that weighing the voice of naysayers against the good of the whole is a difficult spot to be in. We urge individuals who support this event to contact the Lakes Highway District Commissioners or join us at the meeting Monday evening.
We welcome constructive suggestions by those who may be impacted for a few hours by this worthy fundraising event, and sincerely hope to work with them to improve the quality of the event for everyone.
