LETTER: Of love, hate and marriage

| October 4, 2013 9:00 PM

Does J. Johnson hate God? He proposes to legalize same-sex marriage in Idaho against God’s Word. The Bible is very clear on what God says about marriage. In the very beginning (Genesis 2:24) God’s Word says, “Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.” This is later quoted in Matthew 19:5, Mark 10:7 and Ephesians 5:31. It does not say that a man can leave his father and mother and cleave unto his husband; or a woman can leave her father and mother and cleave unto her wife.

Mr. Johnson, don’t you know “… the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness,” (Romans 1:18). Maybe you don’t believe in God. Well, God doesn’t make you believe in Him. He gave us all free will to choose right or wrong behavior. He did not create human robots to do His will. He had men write His Word for other men and women to show us the best way to live our lives. Many of us are far from perfect, but at least we try to honor God by doing what he says is best for us.

This reminds me of the foolishness of our City Council thumbing their noses at God. Now they are forcing Christians who own apartments and other rental units to allow ungodly behavior in their rental units. It is a shame that Coeur d’Alene has turned into a more hedonistic city than it was years ago. I would imagine that the Kootenai County Task Force on Human Relations does not believe in following God’s Word also. The Bible predicted that Christian persecution would come in the end times. Well, it is here in Coeur d’Alene now.

God loves all human beings and we as Christians are to love them also. Not with human love, but with God’s love. God just wants those who do wrong to recognize their error and repent. That means turn around and go in the correct direction. It is just a shame that individuals and the government officials turn their back on God and support hedonistic pleasure rather than honoring God.

DAVE BOERNER
